Missing Australia

Hello mates xx

I'm writing this post only in English because I want to keep up my skills I learnt in Aus. It's been difficult to try to remember some sayings and sentences because I mostly speak Finnish here (obviously, even tho I speak English to myself sometimes, I'm driving people crazy by doing that...)

The first time I saw my parents again on the early morning of 20th December I faced some difficulties to speak Finnish. In the customs I kept answering the staff member in English, even he was asking me questions in Finnish. I felt silly and stupid, why would I do that? It just felt so normal and easy to do so.

To be honest, these four months I've spent in Finland have been the best (and also the hardest) months of my life. Here I have the best boyfriend, friends, family and people around me and I couldn't even ask more. But at the same time I miss Australia a lot. Everytime I'm left alone and I'm feeling lonely, I have time to think about all the things that happened back there. I recall all the small sentences, smiles, voices and hugs people gave me. The friendliness of people is magnificent. You couldn't expect that kind of behaviour in Finland - we're so different. It's a sign of weakness if you show your feelings. Ridiculous, right? It seems like we're not allowed to say "I don't like your behaviour" or "I don't think that went right" aloud in Finland. You don't put your nose into other people's lives or tell them if you felt mistreated. That's something I respect about Aus. People actually said aloud if they thought something went wrong. You people there are more honest and open than we're here. It's not right or wrong, it's just one of the biggest differencies between these two countries. You dare to show ALL your feelings, not only the good or the bad ones. Respect!

I'm planning to come back to Aus and see all the friends again. It feels so far away right now but I want to start saving some money and return soon. I'm wishing to take Jani with me and show him all the beauty I see in that country. You have so much beautiful things there - and the first one is you, the people. Love your attitude towards life, nothing's too serious and you can joke about anything. Obviously that style of life got me immediately and I felt like I belonged there. After facing some obstacles with the families and people, I just wanted to return back to Finland ASAP. I'm really glad I didn't do it, it would've ruined my self-confidence and I wouldn't be this brave now. I love the way the experience changed me - I really grew up. I can only recommed people to go and be exchange students, but you need to understand that it's not easy at all. It requires so much strenght and self-confidence to get through the experience. But at the end you will feel like a new person - you'll be all grown up.

I'm hoping to see all of you again and recall the moments with you guys. You probably can't understand the whole experience I went through, but I know you can remember what we all went through. All the teachers and students who loved me and gave me all their support deserve all the support back. McCarthy is the best place I've been to, and the best things happened there. You might not understand it, but not a school has never left me such an impact as McCarthy did. It's all about the people there - I love you all.

So this is just a quick throwback to my Aussie life and I'm trying to keep my English up, please feel free to talk to me on social media and tell me how you're doing. I'm interested in everything you're doing - I don't want to miss a thing. I want still feel like I'm included even tho I'm on the other side of the world. It doens't mean anything! I can still see, hear and smell the Aussie things. They live in my memories <3

Keep in touch, love & miss you heaps xxx

The only heaven I'll be sent to is when I'm alone with you

Heippa!

Hey people!

The springly weather has gone and we haven't seen the Sun in a while either. Only two months until summer holidays, I'm really looking forward to that. Even tho we have plenty of plans for the spring, I'm still a summer person. Really, who wouldn't love it? You don't need to get dressed up in a thousand pieces of clothes when you can just wear thin dresses and shorts. Gotta love that. That's what I really miss about Aus! But there's something I specially love in Finland - the sunset at 3am, when the Sun doesn't really go even down...

At the moment I'm working via my school. This is a little organisation in the heart of Kuopio and I learn basic office jobs here. This beats studying at school anytime and I actually enjoy this. I'm dreaming of a little vacation overseas, but it's not possible at the moment - you can't afford it with only student money and loan. I'm expecting to hear about few workplaces I sent my applications in, but then I'll see how it goes, do I get a job or not.

After I returned to Finland I've been catching up the time with my friends that I lost last year. I've been partying a lot, but I have to say that it has been amazing! In Kuopio we've been to Passion Club, Onnela, Ale Pub and few more, and sometimes we've been there even in the middle of the week. It's just the time when you've turned 18 and you haven't seen your friends in a year. It wouldn't be this fun tho if I didn't have all these amazing friends with me <3

I'm being absolutely serious when I say I couldn't be happier when I share my life with Jani. I feel like we're having a magical connection even tho we've been together only a short time, three months. I feel like we're reading each other's minds. It sounds really cliché but this is what I really need - this balance and peace what Jani brings into my life. We're balanced and it's extremely easy to be together.

Life's easy when you have someone to share it with <3

Life in Finland

G'day!

G'day mates, Aussies & Finnish fellows xx

I've been a bit over three months in Finland now. I'm really really sorry that I haven't written anything since the New Year, because going through all this Aussie stuff was too difficult to me. I'm adjusted back to Finland and life's absolutely smiling. Few weeks after I returned I went to the New Year's party (even tho you can read that I was hesitating because I was feeling sick) and it was the best decision of my life, because there I met my boyfriend Jani. We've been together almost three months and I'm living the best time of my life. Even tho my life in Aus was irreplaceable (and I really needed to experience it) I can say that these three months in Finland have taugh me lots about life. I've been living alone since the beginning of January and I could never return to my parents place. I love them heaps but I love living by myself.

Here comes photos relating to what has happened after that New Year's party when everything began! Enjoy and I promise to write more often xx

Love you all! Have a great week xxx

I'm home

Hey everyone xx

So I left the land of kangaroos on Friday and I arrived to Helsinki on Saturday morning. I had three flights; Tamworth-Sydney, Sydney-Hong Kong and Hong Kong-Helsinki. Altogether I travelled almost 36 hours plus car trip back home from Helsinki. I'm glad to be back home even though saying goodbyes (I mean, se you laters) to my friends on Wednesday and Thursday were the most difficult thing for me to do. We had this Chinese dinner with my friends and I just loved it. It was so amazing and I thank everyone who took part. I love you so much xx

You will get photos from there and from my trip back home later on when I have time to put photos on my laptop and clean up my room and empty my luggage. Trust me, my stuff are everywhere and it looks like I'm not to be bothered to clean up today.

Tonigh Emilia, Anssi, Veera, Jarno and I are going to have dinner and then later have few drinks together. It was good to se Emilia and Anssi yesterday and Veera and Jarno today. It felt like I never left and everyone were waiting for me. I also met my relatives yesterday and I was so so so happy to talk to them face to face again.

Anyway, now I'm going to relax and chill out before I go out tonight. It's only 9.20am but have to admit that I suffer of jet lag (and still a bit of hangover because it was my 18th birthday on Friday and I might had had too many drinks in Sydney-HK flight so.... :D). I bought my access to Business lounge in HK and I got some weird looks from business men there when I was chilling out in my onesie :D It was such a hilarious trip back home ahaha lol :D

I'll come back and write more next week and put some photos here. Have a great Sunday and a great week, love you xx

Why do all good things come to an end?

Kotiinpaluuseen kaksi päivää. Mä olen itkenyt, nauranut, itkenyt vähän lisää, järjestänyt kivoja juttuja kavereiden kanssa, syönyt lounasta rehtorin kanssa, viettänyt useammat läksiäiset, itkenyt vähän lisää uudestaan, ja koonnut itseni kasaan. Mun tunteet on heitellyt laidasta laitaan.

Two days until homecoming. I've cried, laughed, cried some more, organised nice things with my friends, ate lunch with the principal, been to few farewell parties, cried some more again and kept myself together. I've been mentally so unsteady and emotional that in the first moment I couldn't wait for going back home and the next moment I swore that I'll never leave this country. My Aussie friends are making my leaving difficult (in a nicest possible way obviously) and I'm so afraid not seeing some of these people ever again. It's difficul to say goodbye and try to tell them that "I'll be back" even though you know you'll never see some of them again. You just don't say it aloud to them. You're lying and you know it too, even you wanted to see them again so badly. I've told everyone that this is not a goodbye, this is "See ya later, mate."

We had a mufti day on Friday, but our theme was Christmas, so Chloe lended me some clothes :)
Chloe as an angel (I think so :D)

My music teacher bought me presents <3
Farewell party on Saturday :'D
Picnic on Sunday with my girls (from left): Bec, Lauren, Michaela, Allison, Lauren, Pippa, Bridget & Rachel <3
Courtney bought me this perfect Australia -jumper <3

I sang in a voice ensemble at the school's Awards night and I had to wear a wig because I wasn't allowed on the stage with my red hair (Catholic school problems :'D)

We're having a dinner tomorrow at Chinese with my closest friends. I'll write more on Thursday if I have time. I love you all so much, please don't forget that. Still, I'm coming home soon <3

Love and you'll be loved

Moikka! :)

Mulle on vihdoin löytynyt vuokra-asunto Kuopiosta, Neulamäestä. :)

Hey guys! :)

So, some of you might have already heard that I got my student apartment earlier last month. I've been so messed up with my feelings so my blog hasn't been the number one thing to worry, sorry about that. I'm moving in 2.1.2015 and I have another girl living in the same apartment. It has two bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen and a small balcony. Awesome! I'm probably moving in with my labrador so I have company and obviously I hope my roommate is nice and we get along well. It's only 4 kilometres away from business college and there is a small shopping centre literally next to the apartment and a big shopping complex is only a bit more than one kilometre away. I'm so happy that I was this lucky!

I have 7 days to go in Aus. Isn't that crazy? I though a year would be soooo long but now it's gone. This post is going to be too long so that's why I'm going to put here some photos and explain separately under every one of them. I'll write more before I leave Aus! Peace & love & talk to you later xx

Photos are on random order! :D I love you all, thank you for sharing all these moments with me <3

One month to go

Hey guys xx

I just came to write quickly about the time passing by. Only one month to go, 27 days. I'm kinda absolutely ready to go home but in the other hand I'm a bit jealous for those who are starting their exchange year and everything good is still yet to come. Even good things are coming for me too in Finland but my jealousy about everyone else's experience is so weird to cope with. It's really strange to feel this way. Maybe I'm just scared that I'm never gonna see some of these people again.

That is the scariest part of the whole thing.

Take care, I try to organize my own thoughts.

Rallikuskiksi pääsystä toiveita elätän...

... turha on äitien sankarityttöjä neuvoa ;)

Morjes kaikille!

Tulin siis kertomaan teille, mitä jännää koti-Suomessa tapahtuu sillä välin, kun minä elän mun aussielämää. Iskä siis osti minulle '88-vuosimallia olevan Volkswagen Caravellen.

I dream of becoming a rally driver, heroic girls don't need mothers' useless advice... ;)

Ciaooo everyone!

So, today I'll tell you about really fancy and exciting things that are going on in Finland (meanwhile I'm experiencing Aussie life ;) Dad bought me a (party)van, Volkswagen Caravelle '88. He's repairing it and I'll buy really nice and big sub-woofers and put disco balls on the ceiling and then I'll drive around with my mates :D Ahaha it will be so mental. It'll be 7-8 seated van so I can fit all my friends in there. I'm so excited about it! By the way, that quote above this is a free translation, and it is is from this song below here! :)

Dad seems to be fixing the car all the time (or at least that is what they tell me...) and he also seems to be really excited about it. Well, I can't blame him, men need toys and hobbies :) I feel that I might be driving him and mum around when I get my driving license first :)

I'm gonna put here some photos of it when I go home (NEXT MONTH :O). Dad has sent some photos but I prefer to take photos myself to my blog :) So today I just wrote really random stuff, but at least you got an idea what kinda car I'm driving next year... :D I reckon I'll go to bar few times by that with a driver and my friends hahaha ;)

#Bloodbanking

Moro!

Funny minion #Truestory :'D
Hey guys!

So has November started. This month I will find out where I am moving in January. I left my flat application few months ago and finally I get some information. I'm pretty excited but at the same time I'm worried how my parents will cope with the fact that I go home but then I'm moving out almost straight. I hope they are happy for me too and if they don't like it, they would just say it. But for me it seems to be the best thing to do, I'm 18 then and don't want to live in the forest anymore without a driver's licence :D

Me & Augie played violin with the concert band last Saturday at fête, then we had sleepover with Alexis :)

Strawberry milk for the first time ever, yummy! :)
Yesterday I went to donate blood for the first time ever! I wanted to help and I found that a good way to do it. You have to be 16 in Australia do donate but then you can do it only once a year. I've been pretty tired after that but getting back to normal slowly :)

#Bloodbanking with Maddie :)
Some random selfie from school :D

Niin se aika vaan menee. Tänään on 48 päivää jäljellä.

So the time flies. 48 days to go today. After I met my support person (which AFS organised finally after 9 MONTHS....) I started to think my homecoming in a different way. I actually started to wait for it. I realised what I have in Finland and that I can come back to Australia later. I have so many things to do when I go home, I'll get my own aparment, I need to get a job, I'll get a puppy dog, go party with my friends, get my driver's licence, finish schools... So many things, and I can't wait. Don't misundertand - I've loved every moment in Australia after I moved to this family. Life's been amazing. But still Finland is my home country, and I'm still a Finnish person, I speak Finnish and late nights with my parents and friends are something I'd never give away <3

Ohi syyskuun, läpi repaleisen lokakuun
Kaipuun kaljakori kilisee
Yli taivaan,  päivät niinkuin varisparvi raahautuu
Mua vaivaa ikävistä ikävin
Milloin beibi palaat takaisin?
Etkö tiedä, voi yksinäisen miehen viedä marraskuu?

#Countdown
Love you all xxx Have an amazing weekend! <3
